stencilrevolution

Recently there there have been a couple of very interesting programs run on the ABC sunday arts show dealing with graffiti and graffiti art. After watching these programs I think I may have an inkling of what is going on.

I don’t want to get into a debate about what is and isn’t art, but this is my weblog and for my money, with the exception of tags, I think pretty much anything else has a chance of fitting into that category if it is well done.

Stencilrevolution is a stencil art gallery. Tags offend my aesthetic sense as illegible scribbles that serve no function, stencils can be that too, oh yes, but they can also be a whole lot more.

The stencils presented here range from cute to political and everything in between and are the work of people from all over the globe. Stencils are only one form of graffiti art out there but I think it is a growing form. You decide.

This is an example of the work of someone who goes by the name of Slip.

To view this weblog the way that I imagined it - you will need to download the script font Jeana. Here is the link to the True Type font with instructions for download and PC installation. I believe that Mac OSX users are also able to use this file.
