Archive for November, 2006

It’s Saturday morning and our web server fell over yesterday with a great big splat. Thatch is still rebuilding it and while I have neither email nor Internet access I took the opportunity to clean up my hard drives.

My 80 gig C drive had about 8 meg left and my other hard drives didn’t fare any better. In the process of tidying I came across a photograph that prompted me to reach for my sketch book. This is my first drawing for the “face, hands and feet” part of this subject.

Mystery Woman

As you can see, I’m still having problems with knowing where to put in shadows to make it look 3D but I’m working on it.

The reason this looks so dirty is because I drew it with very soft pencil that smudged. I scanned it into the computer and then I printed it out and drew on the print with charcoal pencil and white gel pen. I also used the erasure to rub back some of the smudging but it looks a little blocky.

Now your task, if you choose to accept it, is to guess who it was I used as a model for the drawing and win… my undying gratitude.

Logging off,
