Reflecting
The smoke laden northerly feels tropical even here in the shade as the heat blasts in from the fire ravaged country inland. Molly the cat and I sit together on the swinging chair in quite communion as I wait out a bout of designers block. Soon the year will be over and so too will our tenure here in Moonee Ponds, demense of Dame Edna. Molly will resume her prior existance as pet to Ronan and Emma.
2007 will see us in a new home overlooking a construction site (whatever were we thinking?) Still it has been a fruitful year although it has exacted a toll and has not been without some measure of difficulties. Still I see it as being successful overall. The academic year is over and my first faltering steps to becoming a graphic designer in more than just name leave me wanting more.
Next year will mean starting over as my first year friends and class mates move on to second year while I cool my heels in first year for another one. The curriculum too is changing so I have no idea what subjects to look forward to. I don’t think it can change too significantly from one year to the next, can it? The joys of part-time study.
I’ve learnt significant things and discovered that contrary to my expectations, I can draw a little. I expect this to blossom over the next few years. I have chosen well I think, passionate teachers and a nurturing environment. Classes resume in March so I’ll have some new drawing done before then.
Well my neighbour is airing his power saw and also practicing percussive hammer solo so it is time for me to retreat to the relative cool of the house.
